Double Image – at last!

I’m very excited to announce that my first novel, Double Image, has been published on Nook Press and Kindle Direct.  There is nothing quite like holding a book you’ve written in your hands, and the warm welcome it has received from family and friends has been nothing short of thrilling.

Several people have asked why I decided to use a pen name to publish this book.   It’s pretty simple, actually.  I am still writing academic articles and books under my real name, and thought it would be better to keep them separated.  I don’t think anyone would confuse my organizational books with my novel, but it’s better this way.

Here is an excerpt from Chapter 1 of Double Image:

Kenna forced out the breath she’d been holding and turned around, expecting to see Lisette coming out of the house. Instead, the garden was empty except for the abandoned stroller.
She felt an uncomfortable buzz prickling at the back of her neck and quickly considered all possibilities. Most likely the nanny had just decided to keep the little boy in the house. Her strides were quick but controlled as she approached the trooper manning the closest door.

“Hey, Jack, did Lisette bring the baby through here?”

“No, I haven’t seen them.”

Kenna froze at the unexpected answer. She checked her watch. “You’re sure?”

“Yup.”

“Ok, well, thanks.” She jogged around the mansion and called out to the trooper at the front door.

“Harry, did Lisette and the baby come by here, go in the house maybe?”

“Nope. I haven’t seen them since this morning.” He smirked. “What did’ya do, lose the kid?”

Color flooded her cheeks. She spun around and took in the controlled chaos of the party preparations on the wide expanse of lawn. No baby, no nanny, and a wide open front gate. Unable to suppress the sick feeling in her gut, she grabbed her radio.

“This is Devlin” she said, trying to control the tremor in her voice. “I have a situation.”
